This is so true. We tend to over-do things. I agree that lack of trust has almost everything to do with this system and the answer is simple- we are overdoing it. For example with bad words, the more we try to prevent it the more it will continue to return because students do not like restrictions and that goes for absolutely every rule that we do not find reasonable.
